About the Mural

"The Irtysh" Mural

The sketch was designed by Elizaveta Shelest. This is Elizaveta's first mural of such height. Irina Klimina acted as the painter and illustrator.

"I've been living in Moscow for five years. During a visit to my native Omsk, I spent a lot of time walking along the Irtysh riverbank and made sketches inspired by the city's history. One of these pictures was a view of the Leningradsky Bridge and the Irtysh. That sketch eventually transformed into what you see on this facade," shares Elizaveta Shelest.

Omsk is Elizaveta's hometown. She spent wonderful years here and often walked along the embankment. In her work, she has captured the mighty Irtysh River, the bridge, the beach, and the beautiful sky.

"This is our third year painting on facades together. Our first collaborative project was in Chelyabinsk, titled 'Ode to Motherhood.' When we came to Omsk for the festival, we were hoping for a 5-story building, but we were given a 10-story one. We're thrilled to have worked on such a large canvas. It's a great beginning for a bigger story," says Irina Klimina.

"I'm happy to leave my artwork in my hometown, and I'm glad I participated in this festival," added Elizaveta Shelest.
