About the Mural

"The Architects" Mural

"The geographic range of my work spans vast territories—from Kaliningrad to the Far East, from the Caspian Sea to the Arctic. At the 'Omsk, You're Just Space' art festival, I presented the stone architecture characteristic of Siberia, including Omsk. In this piece, I sought to convey the spirit of Siberians—their strength and uniqueness. Through dynamics, color, and composition, I aimed to capture the atmosphere and character of the Siberian people," the artist explains.

Ilya employs figurative and academic painting techniques in his work. He does not use a projector to transfer the sketch to the facade, instead creating the outline freehand.

"For me, this isn't just a sketch; it's part of the artwork itself. Everything I create cannot be achieved using a projector and nocturnal marking. This is the classical image transfer technique, thousands of years old. In Siberia, churches were—and still are—painted this way. I have extensive experience with church mural painting, and this method predates even Andrei Rublev," Ilya added.
