About the Mural

"In this work here in Siberia, I have expressed my style and my culture. I created something universal, drawing from the shared Slavic culture and mythology of both Minsk and Omsk," Yevgeny noted.

Yevgeny Cowek is one of the leading street artists in the Republic of Belarus. His works are based on ethnic themes, infused with folklore, symbolism, and national color.

In his art, Yevgeny explores the interaction between humans and the surrounding world, highlighting the harmony and wonders that can occur when one lives in accord with nature. His drawings are imbued with the philosophy and spirit of the places where he grew up and lives.

Yevgeny's works can be found in the Polish city of Gdańsk, as well as in Belarusian cities such as Lida, Baranavichy, Gomel, Mogilev, Vitebsk, Minsk, and others.

The mural titled "The Elder," created as part of the international graffiti art festival "Omsk, You're Just Space," integrates perfectly into the artistic ensemble of the open-air museum and adorns a 10-story building in this Siberian city. The artist has reflected the hidden knowledge of ancestors, which symbolizes the imagery and connection between the past and the present.

"The mural depicts an elder or a sage, who carries certain hidden symbols and knowledge for people and future generations. I am deeply interested in the Slavic culture and the ethnic heritage of my region and the country where I live and work. Furthermore, when I visit other cities and countries, I also immerse myself in their traditions and history. The Slavic culture of our two countries is similar, which is why I decided to reflect it here in this beautiful city," shared Yevgeny Cowek from Belarus.
